Position Title: Jr. NOC Engineer

Work Set Up: On-Site

Schedule: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM PH Time

Job Location: Clark Outsourcing - Building 35 Philexcel Business Park, Clark Pampanga

Quick Rundown:

A Junior NOC (Network Operations Center) Engineer is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues in a timely manner. They work under the supervision of a senior NOC engineer and collaborate with other IT teams to maintain the organization's computer network.

What You’ll Do:

  • Network Monitoring: They monitor the network for performance and availability issues, identify potential problems, and escalate issues to senior engineers.

  • Troubleshooting: They perform basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis to identify and resolve network issues, such as connectivity problems and server outages.

  • Documentation: They maintain accurate records of network events, including outages, and document troubleshooting steps and solutions.

  • Alert Response: They respond to alerts from network monitoring tools, triage alerts, and escalate issues to the appropriate team for resolution.

  • Incident Management: They follow established incident management procedures to ensure timely resolution of network incidents and minimize downtime.

  • Change Management: They assist in implementing network changes and updates, following established change management procedures.

  • Communication: They communicate with customers, team members, and vendors to ensure that network issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.

  • In summary, a Junior NOC Engineer is responsible for monitoring and resolving network issues, documenting troubleshooting steps and solutions, and following established incident and change management procedures. They work under the supervision of a senior NOC engineer and collaborate with other IT teams to maintain the organization's computer network.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Networking fundamentals: A good understanding of basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, Routing, Switching, Firewall, NAT, VPN, etc.

  • Network monitoring tools: Proficiency in tools used for monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and troubleshooting issues such as SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, or Zabbix.

  • Operating systems: Knowledge of operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Unix is essential. This includes basic administration tasks like installing software, configuring network settings, and troubleshooting common issues.

  • Scripting: Basic knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash is important, as they are frequently used to automate routine tasks, and streamline operations.

  • Network security: Understanding the basic concepts of network security, including access control, authentication, authorization, and encryption is crucial. Knowledge of network security technologies like firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM is also important.

  • Incident management: Experience with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) incident management practices, including incident classification, escalation, resolution, and communication.

  • Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary. You will be required to communicate with customers, vendors, and other IT teams.

  • Team player: A willingness to work in a team environment is essential, as you will be working closely with other IT professionals to support and maintain the network infrastructure.

  • Certifications: Certifications such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CompTIA Network+, or ITIL Foundation can be an advantage in demonstrating your technical skills and knowledge.
